As you slept, you never saw my fear.
You never even saw me look.
Awake, yet
on another planet.
And I don't exist
on this planet.
Irrelevant
in your world,
until you decide
when it's convenient
for me,
to be relevant,
to you.
A cold heart,
sapping me.
Just go back to your world.
Now.
i like this. We've all been with people who are too caught up in their own world it seems. And by the time they realize they've pushed us away, we've usually moved on.
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly the feeling. I think it is so important to remember to express our love and gratitude as as often as we can to people in our life. I think it is sad that these words of love go unspoken, until it is too late sometimes. And sometimes, moving on is the best and only thing we can do.
ReplyDeleteSometimes people are so caught up in their own set of expectations, so blinded by their own expectations, that they perceive the other person as being in "another planet". I have learned to cherish the light of each relationship and to appreciate the unique beauty of it, to accept each person where they are in this moment.
ReplyDeleteBecause love is about understanding.
ReplyDeleteLove is about understanding, Julia, as you say. Sometimes there is no respect or equality though that should be inherent in all relationships-basic human rights, and that is where it is important to accept the person, but also accept who you are, and what you want in life. To respect your own self and your boundaries.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment and your visit. :)
I agree with you. Love is about respect. True love should make the best qualities in a person shine. But your poem is about misunderstandings and misconceptions.
